Children’s dentistry is free* under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule, introduced in 2014 by the Federal Government, provides eligible children between the ages of 2-17, access to up to $1,000 in benefits per child for dental services over two consecutive calendar years.

Dental services include:

  • Examinations
  • X-rays
  • Cleaning
  • Fissure Sealing
  • Fillings

Specialist services such as orthodontic or cosmetic dental works and services provided in a hospital are not covered.

You do not need to register for the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. Eligible families and teenagers will get a letter from the Australian Government.

Children and teenagers aged 2 to 17 years for any one day of the calendar year are eligible for Medicare funded child dental services, if they are part of a family that receives Family Tax Benefit Part A or the child receives an Australian Government payment from the list available at:

Eligibility entitles you to $1000 for dental services over 2 years. If you are unsure of your child’s eligibility, simply phone The NoBrace Centre on 1300 662 722. Alternatively, you can contact Medicare directly on 132 011.

No Out Of Pocket Expenses

When The NoBrace Centre has provided the services agreed for your child, they will charge you for the services. When they charge you, you need to pay the account and present your receipt to Medicare, in person or online, to receive a full rebate.
